Dermapen Microneedling and Skin Tightening in Chandler, Arizona

What is microneedling and should you get it?

The answer is almost certainly yes, but let me explain what it is and why you might want it.

Microneedling (also known as Dermapen) is a procedure in which your skin is subjected to thousands of tiny pinhole pricks with needles which only penetrate the superficial layers of your skin.

Why would anyone want to do that?!

Well, because of what it does to your skin.

The small pokes in your skin cause a reaction in your skin which prompts the release of stem cells which help grow back your collagen, make the skin tighter, reduce the size of your pores, and so on.

The net result is a quick and relatively painless procedure which can treat many skin conditions.

You’ll absolutely LOVE your skin after your procedure.

The Benefits of Microneedling

  • Skin tightening – One of the biggest benefits of microneedling is that it can help tighten your skin. This is great if you want to look younger or if you just want to keep your skin looking young.
  • Treats Acne – Microneedling can also be a great tool to help treat and prevent active acne and breakouts. Microneedling can help reduce the amount of sebum that your face produces.
  • Acne scar treatment (and other scar treatment) – Microneedling can also help reduce acne scars and other scars on your face. Pockmarks from previous acne (especially cystic acne) can be smoothed out with this procedure.
  • Evens skin tone and texture – As we age, our skin tends to get uneven in terms of its color and texture. Microneedling can help restore an even texture and tone to your entire face and neck.
  • Reduces pore size – Do you suffer from large pores on your face or nose? Microneedling can help reduce pore size by shrinking your pores.
  • Reduces blackheads – Microneedling helps to dislodge blackheads during the procedure which can help reduce pore size and treat acne.
  • Reduces sagging skin – This is really an extension of skin tightening but it’s worth mentioning here as well. If you are struggling with sagging skin then you may be able to tighten it up with this procedure.

Before & After Pictures

As you can see, the face is immediately red and slightly swollen right after the procedure but it is mostly gone after 2-3 days.

In this set of photos, you can see the tiny pinpoint bleeding that is caused by the needles in the microneedling pen. This is why it is so effective!

What to Expect during the Procedure

The entire microneedling procedure is approximately 1 hour long.

We will start by cleaning your face to remove any makeup or facial products on your face.

I will then topically place numbing cream over your face and neck (or wherever you are getting the procedure done).

We will let the numbing cream set for about 20-25 minutes before we start the procedure.

Once we start the procedure, it won’t take more than 20-25 minutes to complete your entire face and neck.

During the procedure, I will be testing and adjusting the depth of the needle to ensure that you get the best results. I will also be chatting with you to make sure you are comfortable and not experiencing any pain.

I will also be using hyaluronic acid on your face during the procedure to help bring moisture to your face and help the pen glide across your face.

After the procedure, I will place product on your face to help with healing and to help improve your results.

And that’s it! You will then be done about 50-60 minutes after you walk in.

I will also make sure to recommend products that can help enhance your results, improve your healing, or help you achieve your goals.

After Care and Procedure

After the procedure, I give you a list of instructions to follow to make sure that you heal appropriately.

Don’t worry, this list isn’t long or complicated, but you should still follow it!

You don’t want to put anything on your face because it will be sensitive for a few days following the procedure.

After 48 hours you can resume your normal facial routine, but I will probably recommend that you add vitamin C serum or Vitamin A serum as well.

You should be able to resume your normal work schedule about 2-3 days after your procedure.

Please note that your skin may be red for up to 2-3 days after your procedure (but it will fade quickly).

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

The procedure is moderately painful but we take steps to help reduce the pain!

Before your procedure, I will use topical numbing cream which will help reduce or completely eliminate the pain.

It takes about 20 minutes for the numbing cream to set in but the actual procedure itself only takes about 20 minutes or so.

How long does the procedure take?

The microneedling portion of the procedure takes only about 20 minutes.

But, when you include the time it takes to apply the numbing cream, to wash the face, and to apply product at the end I usually recommend that you schedule an hour from start to finish.

How long will it Take to Heal?

You will most likely have a red and sore face for at least 1 day after the procedure.

From that point on your face will continue to heal and the redness should completely fade by day 3.

If you have a job which requires you to look professional and nice then you will want to get this done on a Friday or Thursday to be ready for work by Monday.

Even if you get it done on a Saturday, your face should be mostly healed (just slightly red) by the following Monday.

The procedure does not cause any open wounds, but it does leave your face slightly red and tender.

Do I need to do anything after the procedure?

If necessary I will let you know!

It really depends on your skin type, why you are getting microneedling done, and other factors.

In most cases, I will not have you put anything on your face for at least 48 hours.

If I am treating you for acne, though, then I may recommend other products sooner.

I will let you know at the end of the procedure.

Is there a risk of infection?

The risk of infection is almost zero!

We are not actually entering deep into the skin (we are only getting into the superficial layers of the skin) so the risk of infection is incredibly small.

I’ve done this procedure hundreds of times and I’ve never had anyone have an infection.

During your procedure, I will also use gloves and do everything in my power to keep a sterile and bacteria-free zone.

Does it cause bleeding?

Sometimes!

During the procedure, you may experience what we refer to as pinpoint bleeding.

Pinpoint bleeding is the result of the tiny needles entering into the superficial layers of your skin. This type of bleeding does not cause a significant amount of bleeding and it can easily be wiped away during the procedure.

Don’t worry about the tiny amount of blood! It will be completely gone before you leave your appointment and you shouldn’t continue bleeding afterward.

How much Does it Cost?

The cost of the procedure is $100 and this includes everything.

It includes numbing cream, the cost of the procedure, and any products that I will use on your face during the procedure.

I accept cash or venmo, whichever you prefer.
